Reimagining Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Feminist Insights on Gender and ETI

A fresh perspective emerges as feminism intersects with the realm of extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI) exploration. This new study explores the fusion of feminism and ETI, shedding light on how conventional discussions, particularly those surrounding first-contact scenarios, bear traces of male bias. By introducing feminist viewpoints, this paper introduces novel dimensions to the discourse.

Reimagining Extraterrestrial Intelligence: Feminist Insights on Gender and ETI

Like other disciplines, ETI studies are susceptible to gender-based bias. By infusing a feminist lens, this paper offers a unique framework for dissecting our discourse on ETI. It suggests employing feminist categorization to analyze conversations surrounding ETI, and it goes further by exploring how sex and gender intertwine with our understanding of ETI.

One intriguing proposal within the paper envisions ETI as genderless—a concept that challenges established norms and opens the door to reconsidering how we define intelligence beyond earthly boundaries. In acknowledging the value of a feminist perspective, this study contributes to expanding the boundaries of how we envision and discuss extraterrestrial life and intelligence.
